PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – The Elsa and Peter Soderberg Charitable Foundation, Inc. of Boca Grande has given United Way of Charlotte County (UWCC) a $500,000 donation match gift. The funds will match dollar-for-dollar all donations from Charlotte County employers to support the recovery efforts of their employees and families.
This strategic partnership is a result of the generosity of the Soderberg’s converging with UWCC’s reputation as a convener for social service providers to assess community needs and ensure the delivery of support. “UWCC’s decades of work in this arena will allow our staff to guide employees of Charlotte County businesses large and small to the resources they require,” said Executive Director Angie Matthiessen. “The Soderberg’s altruistic gift amplifies employers’ support of their employees during the hardest time many of them have ever experienced. It’s a win-win situation for individuals, businesses, and Charlotte County as a whole.”
“It’s difficult to keep a business running smoothly when the employees’ lives are in upheaval,” said Peter Soderberg. “When they know their home and family situations are under control, they can better focus on their work lives and their employers’ business needs.”
The Elsa and Peter Soderberg Charitable Foundation, Inc. engages in collaborative partnerships that have maximum impact, make a difference in the world, and align with the family’s values. Providing disaster relief and advancing health and well-being for those in need in southwest Florida are among the foundation’s key focus areas.
100% of funds raised will support people who work in Charlotte County. UWCC will have the responsibility of reviewing employee applications, requesting necessary documentation, making referrals, and disbursing funds.
Because time is of the essence, Charlotte County employers are urged to contact UWCC at 941-627-3539 or director@unitedwayccfl.org as soon as possible to participate in this opportunity to help their employees. All donations are tax-exempt.
